Mileage: Approximately 75 miles
Time: Approximately 2 hours
Description: The half of this ride that follows along the well-traveled Hwy 385 is so scenic it is almost impossible to see the same thing twice. The other half is less traveled, but is loaded with unbelievable panoramic views and it runs between Rochford and Deerfield – which is 7 miles of gravel road so take your time and be cautious.
From Rapid City: take Hwy 44 18 miles.
From Sturgis: take Hwy 14A 18 miles
Best thing about this ride: the views at Deerfield Lake and South Dakota Railroad Museum, which offers a true cowboy experience.
Advice: the gravel stretch of road makes this ride a little more difficult, so be careful. It is worth taking the extra time to experience this beauty.
Advice; the gravel road part of this ride makes this difficult, so be careful. But it is worth the taking the time to experience.
